While at my favorite farmers market today, I found some beautiful Golden Delicious apples! Guess what that means…it’s apple crisp time. This is the day my husband looks forward to all season…
Apple Crisp
5 – 6 large apples
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup oats
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 tsp cinnamon + a pinch for the apples
1/4 tsp nutmeg + a pinch for the apples
Step 1: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with cooking spray.
Step 2: Peel and core the apples. Slice the apples into half inch thick slices. Place the apples in the baking dish and sprinkle a light coating of cinnamon and nutmeg on the apples. Mix to evenly coat.
Step 3: In a small bowl, mix together flour, sugar, oats, and melted butter to form the crumbly top for the crisp. Spread the topping evenly over the apples in the baking dish.
Step 4: Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. The apples will be softened and the topping will be lightly browned.
This apple crisp is yummy either warm or cooled but I normally serve it warm with a side of vanilla ice cream or some whipped cream.
Enjoy!
