The Bat Cave

Every year, I try to come up with themes to use while decorating for the different holidays.  This year is all about bats, spiders, and ghosts for Halloween.  The doors to the office are now the entrance to the bat cave in our house.  Here is a photo of how the entrance has been decorated.

We found a bat themed garland and then I was able to use my Cricut machine to cut out bats that appear to be flying.  I then added red glitter eyes to each of the bats that were cut out before mounting them on the door.

Unfortunately, it just didn’t seem complete with just these two components, so I searched the web and found a free pattern for making a crochet bat.  The pattern includes crocheting a black pipe cleaner into the top of the wings which allows the wings to be shaped and also easily retain the desired position.  This crochet bat has turned into my favorite part of the door decorations!

Here is a close up of the crochet bat.
