Looking for a fun and easy game to play with your young kids?

This is one that we have had so much fun with and the cards can be used in so many different ways.

First of all, print out the 13 page A_Z Matching Game which contains the letters of the alphabet and a corresponding card with an animal whose name begins with each letter.  I would recommend printing the file on a heavy card stock so that they can be used for much longer and will not rip as easily.  Cut along all solid lines to separate each sheet into four separate cards.  Now it is time to get creative with game play.

1. To start with very young children, use the letter card to introduce your child to the sound of each letter and also show them the corresponding animal card.
2. If your child can already identify all of the letters of the alphabet you can mix up all of the cards and lay them on a table picture side up.  Now have your child find each letter of the alphabet, say the letter, and find the card with the picture of an animal whose name begins with the letter.
3. For older kids you can play a more traditional memory type game and flip all of the cards over so they are blank side up.  Take turns flipping over two cards and try to match the picture to the letter sound.

These cards have an infinite way of being used and can help to entertain the kids on long car rides or rainy days.  

Another fun way to use the cards is to have your child pick a card at random from the animal pictures and one from the letters and using those two cards as prompts either tell or write a story using the cards.
